John Andrews, Senior Energy Analyst at NZX Energy will give a presentation on
The recent Downstream Conference for the electricity and gas retailers and generators covered the possible effects of batteries, PV and EVs on the lines companies, the national grid and electricity retailers and generators. Much information from other markets was presented, but the big question remains- is New Zealand really different? And does NZ have the right model in place to deal with these changes?
John attended the Downstream conference in March in his role as the electricity wholesale market clearing manager and has been following the batteries/PV/EV issue with great interest. He has discussed the problems with senior managers at some of the many lines companies and retailers and will be able to offer an insiders perspective. Just to add to his research, John has also driven a number of the 1015 registered electric cars in New Zealand and will add his personal experience to the discussion. John was Flick Energy's first customer and keeps a very close eye on every new electricity retailer.
