You are invited to the Wellington VHF Group Fox Hunt 2008.
As we have for the last few years, the February meeting is a "Fox Hunt", to celebrate and take advantage of Summer and Daylight Saving.
Meet in the car park (between the Tawa Community Centre and Woolworths) from 6:30 pm. Please register and pick up your checklist with the rules and frequencies in use. We hope to have 2 or more foxes on 2 m, and 2 or more on 70 cm.
Fox Hunt starts at 7:00 pm.
Meet back at Tawa Community Centre by 8:45 pm, as pizzas and chips will be provided from 9:00 pm.
You will need:
Receiver(s) that can cover at least one of 2 m or 70 cm.
Directional antennas such as small 3-element yagis will be a good addition (however, you should still be able to find most of the foxes just using signal strength).
If wet, meet up anyway for a relaxing social chat, on the fly Show & Tell or what-have-you.
(Fox Hunting, also known as hidden transmitter hunting, allows Amateurs to practise ARDF (Amateur Radio Direction Finding) techniques to attempt to locate hidden transmitters. Generally the technique involves using receive signal strength and/or directional antennas, along with some simple triangulation.)
