Meetings of the Wellington VHF Group
The feature series in the last three month’s of Q Bit has been about using 1/4 wave stubs for filters. To follow this up, the author is going to provide an overview of the theory and a short practical demonstration of stub filters.
Doug ZL2TAR has plenty of professional and practical experience with designing and implementing 1/4 wave filters to meet the requirements of closely located antennas and site that may suffer from interference.
Hello and Happy New Year!
Our only meeting this month is a BBQ with the Kapiti Branch on Saturday 25 January from midday. We will be at QEII park picnic area 7 and entry is via Wellington Road, Paekakariki. (access from Paekakariki and you will need to bring everything- even shade and a seat! There is plenty of space and last year was a lovely afternoon. If you can bring a BBQ to cook on (gas only), please do so if you don't have one, I'm sure you can share space on one.
The October meeting will be the AGM & AREC section AGM followed by the traditional show and tell.
The AGM will include voting on the proposed change to the constitution published in Q-Bit

This building has been recently totally refurbished and has purpose built radio communications and operation rooms.
Branch 74 AREC is working closely with the Emergency Management Office helping to provide some of the communications infrastructure that will assist during an emergency operation.

Update on AREC DMR as presented at NZART Conference followed by a show and tell on new DMR technology

Don ZL2TLL was one of the team of three New Zealand Red Cross IT & Telecom Emergency Response Unit members that arrived in Nepal on 29 April 2015, four days after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake. Don will talk about the ERU and what it did to assist the relief effort in Nepal.
